Resilient is the heart on my sleeve
Bashing into columns and clawing at articles
Of clothing I’m hoping you’re a wear – of the front
I’ve been putting on for many years
In hopes that this would one day take off –
Careful often takes over as my middle name
An earful I’ve omitted like family recipe I never received
Something is missing that I’m aware should stay that way
Seems so clear with no mean streak in sight
I meant to say everything
But my nothing often says all that I need to
It’s natural to feel
It isn’t natural to feel and leave alone
I write our story on my tongue and swallow hard
