I remember bits and pieces of the process creating my last book “Where to?” – Getting the right titles, putting the poems in the right order, and finding a way to tell my story the best way possible. I also remember finding a way to lessen the burden I was placing on myself trying to put the book out by a specific date. I had this strange idea that putting the book out would be a piece of cake (the first book I put it didn’t take a lot of time to do, but I had a bunch of poems and no true direction, I just knew as a performance artist, I had to start having product).
It wasn’t a piece of cake lol – but I learned a ton heading into the next chapter of my career…
I attended a workshop that taught steps to take in outlining your novel, how to make things easier and less stressful. Though most of the sequencing will be poetry based, I want to move away from just putting out books of poetry, I feel my voice, words, and ability in general is leading me to more with the information that I am putting out into the world.
Just finished my outline for “Where are you” and already that was a ton off of my shoulders – the writing poetry part is easy (well not super easy lol) – now comes putting everything together.
