Still on a high from Sunday…. I was contracted to perform at a family celebration in Union NJ – which meant I had to take out the iron and ironing board.
I did two pieces, one on overcoming the odds, and the second one was on perseverance- They were custom crafted for that event, so unless you were at the event or someone leaks the footage, you’ll probably never hear them lol.
I made a video beforehand- basically about my vibe and the direction I wanted to go as a performance artist. Performing at Barnes and Noble the week prior and turning 39 has me reflecting on my writing/performing as a whole.
When I say I’ve been writing since 10 and performing since 16- it means I remember every notebook I’ve filled, every computer I’ve used and purchased, every stage I’ve stepped on, train I’ve taken, slam I’ve lost, and constantly think about it.
I know my path has been unorthodox- there have been many times that greatness was in arms reach, only for the bungy chord to pull me back. I also know that I can’t do it alone – eventually I will need a team, and I know that will be the hardest part – to actually find people that can align themselves with my vision.
One day at a time
