Performed this past Friday at an open mic in Hillsborough, put together by M.I. – a good dude and poet that has been making a name for himself in the poetry scene.  This was only my second time ever performing in Hillsborough, and he spoke on how difficult it has been to get something moving in the area.        

                The talent overall was solid – poets, guitarists/singers and rappers blessed the stage – the only issue was the sound system was a little choppy, but I didn’t need a mic (I remember that used to be a signature move of mine, I’d walk up to the stage after 7-8 people have used it, and move it to the side – it always made the crowd yell lol) 

                I would like to start incorporating music more into my performances – I have a unique way in my head that I feel will work well. 

                Did two pieces, the first was “Replenished” which I had just memorized that day --- I got far, but had a stumble at a spot I was having trouble with as far as the structure/ line scheme was concerned --- but that’s what open mics are for right? To work on your material. 

                The second piece was one of my heavy hitters- another thing I want to start doing/get back into, is saying the title of the piece beforehand – there is so much that it can for you as an artist.  

                Overall I had a real good time, and glad I came out the house and heard some good poetry.
