On February 26th I had a feature in Rahway… Rahway over the past I’d say two years has become a town that not only I, but my children have shared their poems. 

                A couple days prior I was trying to figure out how to put this feature together – whether to have everything memorized, or to read off of… paper (yes paper not an electronic device). I decided to go with paper which lead to another thought.  I purchased a music stand so I don’t have to hold anything- because my hand movements and overall freedom on stage are a big staple of who I am. 

                While walking to the event, I bumped into someone and had a brief conversation about what we both do, and he gave me his number (his phone was dead). He then told me TWICE to not forget to contact him tomorrow (I actually texted him the next day, he responded “the poet” I said yes, and haven’t heard from him again – one of the 543 reasons why I keep to myself. 

                Once I got into the venue the love came and I felt comfortable – it’s always a good feeling when I can go to a feature and not be tense – I had a game plan and I stuck to it. 

                One thing that I am very thankful for – was the conversations and presence of poets/acquaintances/friends that I came up under and have known for over 20 years, hopefully I can be that to the artists that are looking up to me. 

                The marathon continues though – I have books to write, albums to create, places to be – overall increasing my presence (Yall know I hate all of that, but even the little I have been doing has been benefiting my brand tremendously).
