Performed at an open mic in Matawan yesterday, hosted and ran by Don Krypton- What intrigued me the most about this open mic was the theme, which was mentors and mentees.  For myself, my mentees are Maryah and Norah, and they both killed their sets respectively.  

Usually they have their tablets with them while attending an open mic, it helps the time go by, and I’m not really expecting two kids to sit quietly and attentive for a 3 hour event.  To my surprise they did extremely well, they were on point when their names were called. 

One of the things I appreciated the most, was the venue and the poets mindfulness that there were children in the building- I’m not sure when it changed, but I’ve attended more than one establishment where everything was allowed while children were in attendance – It’s something I’m not fond of.
